This might seem hard to believe but you can find blessings in your breaking. The hardest part about experiencing a breakdown is thinking you’ll stay broken forever; I’m here to tell you that’s NOT true. Having had many breakdowns myself, I later found them almost necessary in order to make real change. It’s natural to break, and there’s no shame in it. Emotions need to be let out!
What makes the difference is what you choose to do afterwards.
For some, they live in the pain and can feel as if battle isn’t worth the fighting for because nothing can change it. While for others, that pain becomes a driving force. They realize they may not be able to change their circumstances, but they can change their attitude about it.
Everyone responds differently depending on what they’re going through.
The next time you start unraveling, I want you to remember one word.
Purpose.
You STILL have a purpose for your life, no matter what you’re battling you’re here for a reason and to make a difference. Think about your family, friends, coworkers, and even strangers you can impact from overcoming. Now a days everyone wants to be so selfish. I’m gonna be blunt here and say you were made to serve more than just yourself! You don’t know the impact you’re missing out on by only focusing on you.
What helps is taking your eyes off yourself. When you shift your focus to someone else you’ll experience the joy that comes from serving. Being the reason for someones smile is a beautiful feeling!
What I recommend is letting what breaks you.. drive you instead.
You can either turn your pain into your purpose like I have, or turn it into an awakening. You don’t need to let your sorrows be stronger than you. You can use your setbacks, insecurities, or sudden loss as your reason to press in and make you stronger.
The road won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.
With love,
Cathy
